| An Agreement
for cooperation in Science & Technology between
India and Philippines is in existence since April,
1987. The same has remained dormant till now. Discussions
are underway to conclude a programme of cooperation
in Science & Technology enabling the scientists/experts
on both sides to visit each others country to assess
the present state-of-art in topics of common interest
to both the sides.
There is a growing interest to collaborate specifically
in the topics of Information Technology, Electronics,
Biotechnology and Material and Research. This Department
considers that there is a need for exchange of scientific
delegations before a view is taken on the kind and
nature of activities to be taken up between the two
countries.
Presently interaction between India and Philippines
is being effected under the aegis of ASEAN and there
have been joint workshops organized in specific topics
of Information Technology, Bio-technology and Advance
Materials. As a follow up of these, visits of scientists
have taken place in specific topics of interests.
There appears to be a lot of interest in having cooperation
in Science & Technology at the bilateral level.
